Chris Jones
Chris Jones, or “Mr. J” as his students have been calling him for 31 years, is a recently retired music teacher from Cherry Creek Schools. He loves to teach students first through the avenues of trombone, guitar, ukulele, piano, recorder, and drums all while incorporating the singing voice too.
Chris earned his Bachelor Of Music Education degree from University of Northern Colorado-Greeley and is a proud trombone student of Mr. Buddy Baker.
He worked briefly at Heath Junior High School, Ranch View Middle School then went on to his main career in Cherry Creek Schools as a teacher in the district’s beginning band program and as general music teacher at Antelope Ridge Elementary School.
At Antelope Ridge he unlocked the joys of learning music for thousands of students by creating opportunities to perform in musicals and grade level concerts, choir, band, ukulele and recorder concerts, karaoke nights, holiday caroling sessions and marching band parades!
Beyond teaching music, Chris believes in the importance of developing the whole child. Attitudes of respect, manners, inclusivity and providing countless opportunities for music creation and chances to perform them have all been life-long values and continue to be so today.
