Drums / Percussion

Erik McCready is an educator, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and composer from Saint Paul, Minnesota, with a bachelor’s degree in Recording and Production from the University of Denver. Since taking up the drumset at the age of six, he has been captivated by music and endeavored to learn as much as he can. Erik views learning as one of life’s most rewarding pursuits, offering a deeper connection to oneself and opening new possibilities for creative growth.

As a performer, Erik has been able to play in a wide range of settings, including jazz big band, small jazz ensembles, pop and rock bands, solo electronic music, and other collaborative settings. He cherishes collaboration and makes it his goal in every creative situation to foster an environment of acceptance, encouraging everyone to express themselves in their most truthful fashion.

This same commitment to creativity and inclusivity shapes Erik’s work as a producer. He believes that through music technology, more people can find an accessible path into music creation. Moreover, he sees creating an inclusive environment as integral to having a good experience recording music. Erik has led the production of several musical releases, notably Wicker People by Assistance.

As an educator, Erik has spent the past four years helping students to find their creative voice. He has taught the drumset, music theory, keyboard, and music production in one-on-one and group settings. He hopes to help students cultivate a deep love for music and their most authentic creative voice. Across performing, producing, and teaching, Erik’s goal is to make music an accessible, empowering, and inspiring form of self-expression for all.
