Abigail Muñoz
Piano
Born in El Paso, Texas, Abigail began formal piano studies at the age of seven, quickly developing a deep love for music. Her education included voice, choir, and violin, but it was music theory that became her true passion, opening new possibilities for understanding, reading, and performing music.
Abigail pursued her Bachelor of Arts in Music at the University of Texas at El Paso, where she studied Music Theory under Dr. Dominic Dousa, Piano Performance with Dr. Dena Kay Jones, and Piano Pedagogy with Dr. Oscar Macchioni. She graduated with her BA in 2012.
After graduation, Abigail launched her professional teaching career at the New Mexico School of Music under the guidance of Dr. Vetrinskaya. She quickly discovered her greatest fulfillment in life was in helping students not only learn to read understand and play music, but in helping them discover their unique voice and personal means of expression through their instrument.
In 2015, she relocated to Dallas, where her career flourished. Over the next decade, Abigail taught at the Dallas School of Music, served as a mezzo-soprano with the Dallas Symphony Choir and Orchestra, and curated a series of benefit concerts titled Communauté des Sœurs, highlighting the works of women composers. Proceeds from these concerts were donated to the Dallas Children’s Hospital.
Committed to lifelong learning, Abigail completed the Yamaha School of Music Teacher Certification program and the Yamaha Music Friends Technology course in 2019–2020. In 2020, she launched her Virtual Music Studio, integrating technology to create engaging and interactive online learning experiences.
With over 20 years of teaching experience, Abigail is now excited to join the Denver music community. She looks forward to fostering creativity, expanding students’ theoretical knowledge, and inspiring a lifelong love of music.
