DaVinci Center’s 2nd Annual Formal Recital

We’re excited to invite our private lessons students of all ages to participate in our upcoming Formal Winter Recital. This recital is a wonderful opportunity for students who are ready to experience performing in a traditional concert setting.

DCMA formal recitals give students the chance to step onto a larger stage and share their music with a broader audience. Performing in this environment helps musicians build essential skills such as focused preparation, stage presence, and performance confidence, skills that support growth not only in music, but well beyond the recital hall.

To help ensure a positive and successful experience, families are encouraged to talk with their teacher to determine whether a formal recital is a good fit at this time. Teachers will guide students through the preparation process and support them every step of the way, celebrating their effort, progress, and growth on stage.

Date & Time: Sunday, February 1 at 2:30 and 4:00 PM
Location: Classic Pianos of Denver
1332 S Broadway
Denver, CO 80210

Registration Fee: $25 per participating student

We ask all DaVinci families to let us know if you will be participating (or not) using our Student Recital Participation Form.

Formal Winter Recital – Frequently Asked Questions

Who is this recital for?

This formal recital is designed for private lessons students who are ready to perform in a traditional concert setting. Students of all ages and levels are welcome to participate when they feel confident and prepared, with guidance from their teacher.

How do we know if this recital is a good fit for me or my child?

We encourage students and families to talk with their teacher about readiness. Teachers will consider factors such as preparation, comfort level, and whether a formal performance environment will be a positive experience for the student at this time.

Do I need to play a long piece?

No. To help keep the recital enjoyable and focused for performers and audience members, most performances are brief. Shorter, well-prepared pieces or excerpts are encouraged, especially for newer performers.

What if I feel nervous?

Feeling nervous is completely normal. Performing is a skill that develops over time, and this recital is meant to be a supportive and encouraging experience. Teachers help students practice walking on and off stage, taking a bow, and playing through nerves with confidence.

Is memorization required?

Memorization is not required unless the teacher feels it is appropriate for the student. Music stands will be available.

What should students wear?

This is a formal recital, so we ask students to dress in concert-appropriate attire. This typically means neat, comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement and helps students feel confident on stage. Teachers can help guide families with specific questions.

Do families need to stay for the entire recital?

Yes, families are encouraged to remain for the full recital. Staying for all performers helps create a respectful, supportive atmosphere and models excellent audience etiquette for our students.

Can we take photos or videos?

Families are welcome to take photos and videos from their seats, as long as it is done discreetly and without disrupting performers or the audience.

What is the registration fee?

The registration fee is $25 per participating student, which helps cover venue costs and recital logistics.
